Position Overview
As a Permanent Part-Time Residential Youth Worker with Edmen Community Staffing Solutions, you'll support children and young people living in out-of-home care in a meaningful, trauma-informed role. We're seeking compassionate, resilient individuals who can confidently respond to complex behaviours while creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive.

Your employment will commence on a 12-month fixed-term permanent part-time contract, with the opportunity to transition into an ongoing permanent position at the end of the contract, subject to performance and operational requirements.

- Build safe, trusting relationships with young people.
- Support daily living activities including meals, personal hygiene, routines, and independent living skills.
- Transport young people to school, appointments, family contact, and recreational activities.
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social engagement.
- Administer medication and maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
- Respond to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed and TCI-informed approaches.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
- Maintain professional boundaries, reflective practice, and personal wellbeing.
- Availability to work overnight shifts ( minimum three per week, 2:30 pm–9:00 am sleepover) – this is essential.
Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or an equivalent qualification. - Minimum six months' experience working in residential youth work.
- Experience supporting children and young people presenting with complex or challenging behaviours.
- Current South Australian Driver's Licence (P2 or above).
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Relevant certifications (or willingness to obtain), including First Aid, CPR, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and other role-specific training.
- Experience supporting young people with complex behavioural presentations.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care principles.
- Demonstrated de-escalation, co-regulation, and relational repair skills.
- A person-centred approach with a strong understanding that behaviour is a form of communication.
